Good daily cleanser
Just saying that if you need a good everyday face wash, Origins Checks and Balances is great. I like it and my 16 year old daughter likes it.

Eye liner question
Could someone tell me how to apply eyeliner without it getting everywhere. I keep trying to use it but it never looks right.. Think about it while you are out saving the world and let me know.
Great hair product
For people with thickish hair (me) who are looking to calm and smooth it down, Kerastase (once again) has a leave in serum called Oleo Relax. It comes in an orange bottle. Just a quarter size amount spread thru out damp hair especially ends works. I love it. I can get it at CVS. Really good stuff.

FYI Another tidbit to keep in mind. When traveling overseas where the electrical outlets are different, beware of the adaptor and the flat iron combination. I learned the hard way that the adapter (or at least the one I used in London) heats up the flat iron to a metal melting temperature. Not only does it fry your hair, but it then proceeds to blowout, terminating the flatiron. I am still dealing with that lovely event a year later. I mentioned this to someone else who also had this happen to them so this isn't just a typical "only could happen to me" story.
Here is some info on the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial you can get at your dermatologist office. Many of you probably already have tried it since it has been around for a while. I did it a while ago (couple of years) on my face which worked rather well in terms of getting rid of sun spots. That is a good thing, however, I then tried it to get rid of some sun damage on my chest area which did not work so well. It actually made matters worse, more dark spots and skin damage. So I would be very careful about having it done on the chest. I have no idea why I reacted that way. So beware. I have also heard that if you are darker skinned this is probably not a good idea for you. It could give you white spots.

As you can tell this has been somewhat of a learn as you go project. I have just adjusted my settings so that instead of having to just leave a comment, people I have invited to be an "author" can now post directly anything they feel like sharing with everyone. Hopefully, this will work better and more easily.

Even though I am the only one posting (to myself) on this blog, I continue along with my trivial little quips about beauty products. So today I wanted to add that as far as I am concerned there is only one worthwhile mascara. It is the Naturally Glossy Clinique mascara. I get Jet Black. It does not clump. Anyone else that can counter that please do so. But don't tell me Chanel because I don't like that one. Also I don't like any of the ones you get at CVS.

I am trying something I think would be fun and I would like you to participate in it if you want to. This is a totally vain idea that I came up with because I am always looking and asking for the next best thing for good hair and skin care. For those of you who know me you know that I have complained about my hair and skin problems since the beginning of time. I know you are all sick of hearing about it. Although I want this to be for women of all ages, some of us are now entering the more complicated years of taking care of ourselves and it seems my bathroom is filling up more rapidly than before with trial and error products. I have also had a few procedures from my dermatologist that I liked and did not like. So my idea is that we start working together. I have created a blog for us to share our information. Just simply post a product or a procedure that you tried and liked or tried and didn’t like. Just to name a few, this can include makeup, skincare, haircare, perfume, dermatologist procedures, injectables, cosmetic surgery, facials, (I heard about an oxygen facial that I would love to hear from someone who had one), or anything that you found helpful and want to share.
My sisters and I have been relaying good product finds to each other for years and I thought it would be fun to get more people involved to offer a wider and more up-to-date range of information to help narrow down this endless list of beauty aids. If you happen to try something you like, share it with us! This could be fun. Xxoo Laurin

Obagi Blender with Retin A
Also, still really like the Obagi blender with the retinol mixed together. Use it most nights. I have really seen a difference with skin problems. I definitely think my skin seems more even toned. And anyone who knows me knows I'm picky. Hopefully that will continue. So far so good which says a lot because sometimes what works for a while stops working. Not so with this.
For anyone who has puffy eyes sometimes or frequently like me (I think I inherited this problem from my father's side of the family) I have found a good product that seems to work. Actually two products that help a lot. One is the Skin Effects by Dr. Dover Penetrating Eye Treatment Mask. (get it at CVS) It is this mini eye cloth that you soak in a blue solution then place over eyes for 7 to 10 minutes. It is a nice little relaxing thing to do and I think it works.. Also there is an eye cream by Vivite which has glycolic and caffeine in it that also tightens things up.. I got this at my dermatologist's office but I'm sure you can get it on line. I really like both.

Went yesterday to have "the hair" blonded. I absolutely dread going now because it never seems to come out the same way twice. It is always a surprise. I hate that. Now I have a black spot on my right side with 2 blond stripes running through it. So pretty. not. Anyway, It feels dry again so I'm back to the Kerastase shampoo and conditioner for a while.

I have changed certain settings for this blog so hopefully anyone can comment and/or leave any information about any new product they have used that they liked.
I want to add a facial cleanser that is great call NeoStrata which is a glycolic foaming cleanser. It really helps with break outs and is a great exfoliater. I ordered it on line. It was recommended by a dermatologist in Philadelphia for my sister. Great product.

I'm still trying to figure out how blogging works and how other people can give their input easily. I think if you have a gmail account, aol or yahoo it may be easier. I will work on that and get back. Anyway, the SkinCeuticals I have been using are the vitamin C product called phloretin CF which you put on clean skin in the am and then the hydrating B5 gel on top of that. I don't normally like to have too many things to put on my face but this feels great. I also then put a moisturizer/sunscreen on top of that. I'm going to stick with this plan for a while. The night time stuff I mentioned already. (the Obagi combo). I'm not sure where you get skin ceuticals in other areas, but here(wellesley, ma) I go to Beauty Way on route 9 in Natick. They will give you samples to try which is great.

So this is what I have been thinking about with this blog. This is for all the fellow product junkies like myself that is always looking for a great shampoo or conditioner, the perfect day moisturizer, perfect night moisturing, a great new lipstick, the next best thing for mascara that doesn't clump. To botox or not to botox, what dermatologist have to offer. Retinal products. The list is endless and very expensive. Wouldn't it be nice if we all helped each other out by sharing our information. Let's tell each other about products or procedures we liked and didn't like. I know living in New England that I might be limited to what is out there in other parts of the country or even internationally. So for me, this would be fun.
By the way. New great lip color is Berry Metallic by Bobby Brown. Good summer color. I'm blond and somewhat fairish. Works for my coloring.

Products for skin and hair that I like
Recently purchased the new Clinique foundation called Even Better. Love it. It is oil free and has spf 15. It goes on easily and really does give an even look without being caky. I use the Ivory color which works well for me. Not yellow.
Also purchased Obagi .1% Tretonin cream.. So far so good. But how do you get it to stay away from the nose area?
I damaged my hair from having it highlighted and maybe to much flat iron. Anyway Kerastase shampoo and conditioner is very helpful. Expensive though. You don't need to use it everyday. Also the Moroccan Oil helps alot when put on damp hair.
