A Brazilian of a Different Sort

I went a couple of weeks ago and had the Brazilian Blowout done on my hair. As I mentioned before I had the Coppella Keratin Hair Treatment done last January which I liked overall and I really think it helped my really damaged hair. The thing about the Keratin is that it is expensive and you have to keep the "stuff" on your hair for 3 days. I really wasn't thinking I needed to do it again, but when I heard about the Brazilian Blowout, I of course had to try it. You know, for the cause. Anyway, I love this. This is much easier. There is no stuff you leave in. Your hair looks great when you walk out of the salon. You can pull it back. Also, I found that simply blow drying and your good to go. no flat iron necessary. That alone is worth it to me. Saves so much time! This is not the thing for people with already fine straight hair obviously.

Update however: I called to get an appointment for my daughter who wanted to try it, and they told me that they weren't scheduling these for the time being because there might be a toxic chemical in it that may be harmful. So typical. anyway, it was good while it lasted. :)

This is not your mother's hairspray!

Just getting back about the Morrocan Oil Hairspray. Since no one responded and did not go out and buy it and respond, I felt the need to purchase it myself as usual and try it. Thankfully, I did not waste my money because I really like it. It smells great which I like because I don't want to smell like chemicals. However, this is not for people who want cement to plaster down their hair. This is very light for those pieces of hair that want to go left, that you want to go right. Or maybe that's just my problem. Not sure. Anyway, good stuff. :)

Update on Obagi C

I have been using Obagi C sort of off and on. It is a little dry for me. I tend to use the night cream more than the day routine. Although, I have a friend (she hasn't commented yet about this on my blog), who claims she loves it and that I should stick with it. The dryness she says goes away and she loves it. Obagi is a great product. They also have the regular Nu Derm system which is great. So if you haven't tried that you might look into it. A lot of dermatologist carry it in their offices.

urban decay eyeliner

I recently purchased the Urban Decay eyeliner that I heard was good (Allure award or something). Anyway, I got the black, some color called Dime and another called Gun Powder. My daughter was with me so some of it was for her. The woman at the Sephora counter scared us a bit when she asked if we have a heavy duty eye makeup remover because this stuff is "industrial" (she said) in terms of waterproof. I don't think it really is though. My problem is that I think eyeliner pencil doesn't really work for me. I may not have the right shaped eyes/aging. However, I will say that the Dime and Gun Powder are pretty especially,I think, if you have light eyes. Very silvery/ Probably best on the lower lid. So if you do use eyeliner and are good at putting it on, they are creamy and go on nicely. One other thing about eyeliner I notice, is that I think as you get older, dark eyeliner on the bottom eyelid does not look good. Maybe this is not true for everyone, but I think it draws the eye down. At least it does for me. Just food for thought.

Glo minerals-concealer

As a matter of fact the La Mer is a bit pricey. I think it was around $80.00. However, it does seem like I will have it forever. Another good one is the Glo Minerals one. It comes in a little round container with 2 tones. half and half. I use the light tones but they come in different shades. Also very good and cheaper.

La Mer - concealer

BTW, a really good concealer is one from La Mer. It comes in a little compact. I use the color Medium. It is creamy and goes on well. Seems like it will last a long time to.

Obagi C update

It has been over a week now that I have been using Obagi C. I do like it. It isn't very moisturizing though so at night I put a little moisturizer on top. I think next time though I would buy the serum for normal to dry skin, not normal to oil.

Obagi C

I am currently trying the new line (I think it is new) by Obagi called Obagi C (because I am a push over for anything new and a friend was using it). It is pushing the whole thing about Vitamin C helping to diminish fine lines and sun/age spots. It also has hydroquinone for skin lightening. I'm not sure if it is for me because it doesn't feel very moisturizing to me. I do like the sunscreen (spf 30) but I'm thinking that I like the skinceuticals Phloretin CF (vitamin C) serum better and then use the Obagi sunscreen. The problem might be that I got the Obagi serum for oily skin (oil free) because that is what the woman told me to do since I break out sometimes. I'm thinking I need the oil. We'll see.

New domain-VanitySpot.com

I purchased a domain for my blog a while ago but have just recently figured out a way to use it. The name is VanitySpot.com. (I don't think it matters if you don't use capital letters) So if you can't remember the Laurinslist.blogspot.com name, VanitySpot.com will also work now. I think. This is kind of fun to mess around with. :))

How to Apply Eyeliner

Moroccan Oil Hairspray

Was just wondering if anyone out there has used the Moroccan Oil Hairspray? I am thinking of getting it but don't want to waste my money if it is not good. I already have enough in the "product graveyard" section of my bathroom. Am I the only one that keeps this stuff? :)

Great shampoo and conditioner

It has been a while since I have posted. It's not that I haven't been "researching" though. :) So my latest recommendation is a shampoo and conditioner from L'Anza. I have been using the L'ANZA Healing Colorcare shampoo and the (same name) conditioner. It is the one in the red and white bottle. I have rather thick hair so I can only speak for fellow thicker hair people, but this stuff is fantastic. It is a sulfate free shampoo so it is great for anyone but especially people who color their hair or those who have done the keratin treatment. I believe them. And I don't always do. I originally got it from my hair salon, but now I buy it on line. Great stuff.

Follow up on Keratin Treatment

It has been 2-3 months since I had the Keratin Treatment. It is still working. I wish I had known about this a long time ago. I think I like it better now than when I first had it done. It really fixed the condition of my hair. Finally, the straw is gone.

Puffy eyes

I have not blogged in so long partly because I'm the only one blogging. Anyway, I did want to say that I may have figured out the puffy eye thing. Don't use eye cream at night! I have spent a gazilion dollars on eye cream trying to find the one that does not make my eyes swollen in the morning. I finally realized no eye cream works. So there you go. Put the eye cream on in the am. :)

Shampoo to use after Keratin Process

To help maintain your Keratin conditioning process you need to use a shampoo that does not contain sulfates. I had been using Pureology anti-fade Hydrating shampoo but I had some trouble washing the shampoo out which caused serious flaking. The new non sulfate shampoo that I find is very good and does not cause the flaking is made by Kenra, Color Maintenance shampoo. The conditioners can be whatever works for you, I have used Bumble and bumble or Phytobaume Conditioner.

Avene Cleanser and moisturizer

I struggle with my skin as I go through menopause. Sometimes feel like a teenager, but worse on top of skin breakouts I also have the drying issues of being in my 50's! I have found a cleanser and moisturizer that is very good. The Avene Clean-AC cleansing cream is an anti-acne cleansing cream but is not too harsh at all for my skin. I then use Avene Clean Ac Hydrating cream, also meant as part of an anti-acne treatment but is a great moisturizer without making my skin oily in my T-zone!

Facial Cleanser...step two

My dermatologist recommended two steps to cleansing my face, first wash with a cleanser step two; use Ponds Wet Cleansing Towlettes -Micro dermabrasion gentle exfoliating cloths. These clothes do not dry out your skin but still get off all makeup as well as work nicely as an exfoliant.

Kiehls eye cream

Recommending Clinique's lip color called Plum Nude. Pretty color. Also Kiehls eye cream, the one with avocado in it. Don't like the Kiehl's new mascara though. My daughter and I were completely sold by the sales person that it had all these moisturizing benefits to it blah, blah, blah... very clumpy, to thick for me. Still sticking by Clinique Glossy Mascara.

In my opinion - Keratin Treatment

I decided to let a few days go by before giving my opinion on the Coppola Keritan Treatment. I will say that I definitely like it. It leaves your hair feeling extremely soft and manageable. I'm not sure what to do though with all my shampoos and leave in "elixors" that I have stock piled. I kind of miss them. It was part of my routine. Even my flat iron is neglected. I will say that I need a haircut now desperately. I also will say that if your hair is fine to begin with, this is not for you. It reduced the volume of my hair (after blow dry) by 50%. I kind of wish I had known about this earlier during my hay stack days about a year ago. It would have saved me alot of anguish. Definitely worth a try. (for people with volume). :)

Keritan Treatment

So I took my sisters advice and decided to try the Keritan Treatment on my hair. I am doing it for the conditioning benefit more than the straightening. She however lives in phila. and they offer a 24 hour one there which is not available here. So I am on day 2 of a 3 day treatment. Hair is flat and very strait. I can't pull it back or clip it. It just has to hang there looking a bit drippy and lifeless for a few days. I feel the need to explain to everyone why my hair looks like this. Including my sons dentist. He didn't really care. Anyway I will let you know what happens. ;)
